Should I open an Individual Seller Account or a Professional Seller Account on Amazon?
This is a common question people ask when starting their Amazon business.
The answer is ALWAYS open a Professional Seller Account.
Bob Schneck, an experienced Amazon seller, compared the two over the past week on our YouTube Channel.
Let's talk about some of the Pros and Cons.
The Individual Seller Account restricts you from selling in some of the biggest and most profitable categories on Amazon.
Amazon will collect and pay sales tax for you if you are a Professional Seller Account. Whereas that responsibility falls on you if you are on the individual plan.
The Professional Seller Account allows access to third-party tools such as Keepa, Scout IQ, and Profit Bandit. It also allows you to give permission to suppliers to create listings and shipping plans for you.
The most important reason is that Amazon does not consider Individual Sellers for the Buy Box. 90% of Amazon's sales come from the buy box, so you need to be on the Professional plan.
In regards to fees, the Individual plan charges $1 per product sale and the Professional plan is a monthly subscription for $40. So, if you plan on selling more than 40 products per month, you need a Professional Seller Account.
Are you running a hobby or are you running a business?
If you want to grow and scale a profitable, sustainable Amazon business, then you absolutely need a Professional Seller Account.
